Newport Elementary PTO (NES PTO) has been serving kids and staff since 1983. Our love for our kids, staff, and community hasn't changed over the years. We are excited to take this PTO even further than in previous years. The community will get to see new events, new ideas for the school, and two renovated playgrounds! Become a part of this passion of ours.
NES PTO is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting the general welfare and betterment of Newport Elementary School staff and its students.
To enrich our children's lives by engaging parents, supporting staff and enhancing the school environment.

Our PTO is made up of hard-working parents, guardians & teachers who pool their talents to provide practical support for our school. Those listed below volunteered to provide leadership this year. Get to know their names and faces, and feel free to ask them if you have questions.

Executive Board
-Leader and key contact of the PTO
-Presides at all PTO meetings
-Ex-officio member of most committees
-Coordinates the work of the officers and committees so that the PTO’s objectives can be met.
Needs very good organizational and networking skills and will be the main representative for the organization.
-Deputy of the PTO President
-Perform the duties of the President in the absence or inability
-Work in tandem with the President as needed
-Responsible for PTO memberships as well as community PTO events such as the Welcome Back event, and other events as needed.
-Writes and retains PTO meeting minutes
-Distributes general information necessary for board
-Acts as parliamentarian for the board and assures the meetings are conducted in accordance with the Newport Elementary PTO Bylaws and Robert’s Rules of Order.
-Bookkeeper of PTO budget/finance
-Prepares financial reports that will be presented at monthly board meetings
-Prepares books for audit and filing tax
-Make deposits in a timely manner and provide a written receipt anytime funds exchange hands
-Pay expenses in accordance with the approval of the board
Characteristics for this position: financial understanding, comfortable with processing of large deposits, open and transparent with information within the organization, reliable, accurate and familiar with Excel.
-Develop and implement strategies to recruit new volunteers
-Use membership forms to help recruit interested volunteers
-Create and distribute flyers, emails, and social media posts to encourage parent participation
-Organize and maintain a schedule for volunteer shifts and assignments. This is often done through Timetosignup
-Ensure coverage for all PTO events and activities
-Serve as the primary point of contact between volunteers and the PTO
-Regularly communicate with volunteers about upcoming events, expectations, and responsibilities
-Assist in planning and executing PTO events, such as fundraisers, school fairs, and teacher appreciation days
-Coordinate volunteer efforts during events to ensure smooth operations
-Develop and implement a system for recognizing and appreciating volunteer contributions
-Work closely with PTO board members, school staff, and volunteers to identify needs and coordinate efforts
-Attend PTO meetings and provide updates on volunteer activities
-Collect feedback from volunteers to improve the volunteer program
-Implement changes based on feedback to enhance the program
